DAN JANSEN
Champion Speedskater
Dan Jansen grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin. Although he dominated the sport of speedskating for years, Jansen had never won an Olympic gold medal after competing in three Olympiads. In the 1994 Olympics, Dan Jansen reached his last event and still had not won a gold medal. In his last competition, Jansen set a world record and won an Olympic gold medal in the 1000 meter event.

* First first man to ever break the 36 second mark in the 500 M
