DAN DIERDORF ABC Sports Commentator
Dan Dierdorf, a three-time Emmy nominee (1987, '88, '89), has distinguished himself nationally as one of the top announcers in the industry. Dan Dierdorf has spent seven years as an expert commentator on ABC's NFL "Monday Night Football."
Dierdorf is in his fifth year as the blow-by-blow announcer for ABC Sports' coverage of boxing.
Dierdorf, a former NFL All-Pro tackle, who joined CBS Sports as a play-by-play announcer for NFL telecasts in 1985 before switching to color analysis in 1986, has extensive broadcasting experience. He has been a sportscaster for KMOX-Radio in St. Louis in a variety of capacities for the past 17 years, and most recently has been the full-time host of KMOX's daily two-hour sports talk show, "Sports Open Line."
In 1984, Dierdorf served as a color analyst for KMOX-Radio's coverage of the St. Louis Cardinals, announced NFL games for the CBS Radio Network, and provided color commentary for radio broadcasts of the NHL's St. Louis Blues. Dierdorf also has served as sports director of KMOV-TV in St. Louis.
During a stellar 13-year career with the St. Louis Cardinals (1971-1983), Dierdorf was named all-pro six times, was selected as the NFL's top offensive lineman three times, and was voted to the NFL Team of the Decade for the 1970s.
Dierdorf, a 1990 finalist for the Football Hall of Fame, was a two-time All-Big Ten tackle at the University of Michigan, where he also was named to seven All-American teams as a senior.
Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, Dan Dierdorf currently lives in St. Louis, with his wife, Debbie, and their four children.
