With more than 30 years of award-winning golf broadcasting experience with CBS, ESPN and NBC Sports, Jim Kelly joined The Golf Channel in 2004 from his previous role as host of Champions Tour events on CNBC. He’ll serve as booth host/commentator with analyst Frank Nobilo.
Kelly has served as a host/commentator for ESPN, where he specialized in golf, covering over 30 PGA Tour, PGA Champions Tour and LPGA events each year since 1985. At ESPN, he also covered horseracing, college football, college basketball, tennis, hockey, and five America’s Cups, winning a CableAce Award for his coverage of the 1986-87 America’s Cup in Australia.
From 1974-85 Kelly worked for CBS Radio Sports, hosting SportsWorld Roundup, a program he wrote and produced, and reporting on two Olympic Games and 12 Masters golf tournaments. Kelly was sports anchor for WCAU-TV (now NBC-10) in Philadelphia (1978-82), where he won a 1980 Eclipse Award for local horseracing coverage. From 1979-85, Kelly did NFL and NBA play-by-play for CBS-TV, where he also covered golf, track and field, and bowling in addition to hosting Sports Saturday and Sports Sunday and anchoring CBS’ coverage of the 1983 Belmont Stakes and 1985 Travers Stakes.
A resident of Park City, Utah, Kelly is an avid golfer with a 14 handicap. He has two daughters.
